Date night without the date, that is. The first Saturday of every month (pushed back this month because of Labor Day) the local Y has military date night. You can drop your children off to play from 5:30-9:30 while you and your spouse go on a date or just run some errands. Last month I used the time to get a haircut, my first one in a year.
Last night they played while I went to Barnes & Noble. I got a coffee and read a book. Yes, the entire book. I have a weakness for action thrillers and didn't want to wait for this one to come out in paperback, Barry Eisler's "Requiem for an Assassin". One of his John Rain assassin novels, a gloriously bloody and violent series that I got hooked on when I was on bedrest during my pregnancy with Brandon. A bit of a change from my preferred flavor of mind fluff.
