in the mirror, a
shadow of my former self
lingers deep within.
the girl, running free.
catching sunbeams in the day,
fireflies at twilight.
the college student,
her world a whirl of classes,
coffee and late nights.
a career begins,
scientist and engineer
working day and night.
the mother of two,
with a toddler by my side
and babe at the breast.
would the girl I was
know the woman I am now?
new dreams but still me.
