We have 7 cats and Tessa is the pariah cat. Most people never even see her. It's gotten a lot worse and since we moved to the new house she's too fearful to even go downstairs to eat and get to the litter box. :( I've tried Feliway, homeopathic remedies, giving her a separate space and reintroducing her. No luck. She has a heart murmur (last year the vet told be to be prepared for her to die at any time but she's still here) and in the last year has dropped from 7 lbs to just barely 5 lbs.
I hate to do this but I feel like I have to do something to improve her quality of life. The only other option is to find a new home and, realistically, the chances of finding a new home for an 11 year old cat are slim to none. She's my baby, one of the original 3 cats I got when I was in college. She isn't having any problem taking the meds, thanks to the "pill pocket" pet treats, so we'll see how she does on them.
I'm sure some of you can appreciate the irony of me medicating my cat, though.
My baby, Miss Tessa:
