And so it begins.

My house is, once again, a disaster. Why, you ask? Because of a stack of CDs and paperwork. That one stack was the seed of disaster for the entire house. There it sits, so innocently, on top of the bench seat in the family room.

We finally unpacked the family room recently and most of the items were put away. Except for that stack.

Underneath the bench seat is storage that I plan on using for spare blankets and linens. We have a lot of spare blankets. Most of them we just unpacked when we organized the family room. The blankets were piled in the laundry room and I promptly washed them. But then, what do I do with them?

Ah ha, I'll pile them in the office. There, on the chair, and I'll keep the door shut so the cats don't sleep on them. Well, now I don't have room to work in the office. That's fine, I'll just package up orders in DD's room. Now DD's room is a mess - packing materials and postage receipts everywhere.

Oh, and there is that one last load of blankets. There's not room for them in the office, the pile of blankets is threatening to tumble over as it is. So that last load stays in the laundry basket. There is a load of clean laundry in the dryer but it sits there, cold, wrinkled and unloved, because it's a PITA to carry it upstairs without the basket. Each morning DH ventures his way downstairs, climbing over the mountain of laundry piled up in the laundry room to get clean socks out of the dryer. And he grumbles and bitches the whole time.

Since the dryer is full I don't want to put another load of laundry in the washer because I don't want it to sit in there in mildew. Instead, the dirty laundry piles up in the closet. The laundry basket is overflowing, a tidal wave of dirty clothes threatening to overtake the bedroom.

All because of one little stack of CDs and papers. My plan for tomorrow? Put away that damn stack.
